We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday every month. Details of each walk will be available closer to the date (all members of NAWC are emailed). Many members walk regularly but anyone is welcome to join us, even for a one off. We usually walk 3-4 miles over gently undulating local areas. Start points are usually a pub which we then have lunch at on completion of the walk.

Walking Tour of Mayfair with Carol Prager

I am going to do another walking tour of Mayfair in London, where I worked for a long time. I know a lot about the area because there were times when I just had to get out of the office and walk, but please realise I am NOT a professional tour guide. I know little side streets and short cuts and some of the history of the place, but I almost never went out to lunch so I can't really recommend good places to eat, but I do have some interesting places in mind.

Perhaps there is less chance of rain and snow than there would be later in the season! I will be at Northwood Underground Station just before 10am, as there is a train that leaves at 10:03; it passes through Pinner at 10:08. Anyone coming from Uxbridge or Rickmansworth can meet us at 10:30 at the front of the platform by the steps at Finchley Road Metropolitan Line Station where we will change for the Jubilee Line. Please let me know if you are coming that way so we will know to expect you there.

You can buy an off peak travel card for zones 1-6 or use your Oyster card. I definitely want to be back before the rush hour starts. As we will be meandering through Mayfair, anyone who needs to leave early can easily walk to a nearby Underground station.

I don't anticipate that we will go in anywhere with an entrance fee; this will be a day to see the outside. We can have lunch or not as it takes our fancy. Everyone is welcome!
