Torrens, our vice president who returns to the US at the end of this month.
During her time in the U.K Cindy has been an enthusiastic member of the club and
readily used her talents, time and energy to support the club in many different

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY!
Our next culinary adventure will take us to Northern India, for elegant, stylish Punjabi cuisine.
Indus, The Indian Room in Hatch End, has offered to extend their introductory special price Thali menu just for our delight. A three course lunch with a range of vegetarian options is £6.25, or £6.95 for chicken or lamb options, or £7.95 for seafood options.
The restaurant itself is modern and elegant, and the food should live up to this high standard. I haven’t eaten there myself, but I did experience the knowledge and friendliness of the staff, which must come from being proud of what they offer.
Our reservations are for Tuesday the 9th of March, at 12:30. There is a free parking lot just behind the restaurant which empties of its nursery school mothers around noon, so there should be plenty of spaces by the time we get there. I’ll give you directions and suggestions of other places to park.
I’ll have a signup sheet at our March meeting. I am sure there will be a lot of you who want to take advantage of this exceptional offer.
Please let me know if you want to come, as I have to let them know how many we will be. See you soon!

The time has actually come for me to return to America the end of February. I am unable to be at the February general meeting as we will be traveling (once again) but hopefully will see many of you at February's events. We have had such wonderful opportunities to see many exciting places that likely would never have occurred if we were not living here in the UK. I leave with mixed emotions. Of course I am anxious to be back closer to my children, family and friends. But I have made so many new friends here through the NAWC that I will miss seeing; I could easily be happy living here for another year.
The NAWC has made my transition to living in the UK an easy one. Since I am not affiliated with the military I really had no way of meeting people. I attended my first NAWC about 3 days after arriving here as previous expat Kodak wives had told me about the club and I was in contact by post even before moving. I remember being warmly welcomed by Board members Lorraine Harker, Elizabeth, Alice and Sally. That was in December and in April I agreed to become Vice President. This also helped me become closer to a smaller group of women by meeting and working with them more intimately. I hope that each of you will consider taking part in the organization of the club as Board members or Interest Group chairwomen. The club cannot exist without new ideas and new leadership each year. It truly is YOUR club and the benefits of taking part are immeasurable for the minimal work required.
In conclusion, NAWC was a lifeline for meeting friends and enjoying wonderful social activities with other people rather than on my own. I so appreciate the kindness each of you has shown to me during my 2+ years here and do hope that you will keep in contact with me via email. I will be sure to let you know when my book, I Gave You Each Other: A Journey of Faith and Inspiration, is published. Fondly, Cindy Tornes
